Biography

 

Cristian Fosalau was born in Piatra Neamt, Romania, on August 15, 1963.

He received his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Iasi, in 1987, and his Ph.D. in Metrology, also from the Technical University of Iasi, in 1998. The thesis was aimed on improving the performances of transducers for geometrical quantities by using non-conventional materials and intelligent signal processing.

After a 3 years stage in industry at the Synthetic Yarns Factory Savinesti, Piatra Neamt, he entered the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Technical University of Iasi, in 1990, as an assistant professor. Since then, he has climbed up all the steps in the academic hierarchy, reaching thus a full professor in 2003.

His academic activity has been carried out entirely within the Department of Electrical Measurements and Materials. His professional interests are aimed on teaching and research areas related to electrical measurements, sensors and transducers, virtual instrumentation and video and signal processing for instrumentation.

He is author or co-author of 10 teaching and scientific books and over 150 papers published in scientific journals and in the proceedings of various international conferences and symposia.

 

He is a Ph.D. co-ordinator in electrical engineering domain since 2008.
